After announcing a 100 percent new tariff on Chinese goods, Trump still could not quell his anger. He posted on Truth Social, complaining: “It has just been learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive position on trade by sending an extremely hostile letter to the world, stating that they will, effective November 1, 2025, impose large-scale export controls on virtually every product they make, and some not even made by them.”
“This affects all countries without exception and was obviously a plan devised by them years ago. It is absolutely unheard of in international trade and a moral disgrace in dealing with other nations. We have been contacted by other countries who are extremely angry at this great trade hostility, which came out of nowhere.”
“There is no way that China should be allowed to hold the world captive, but that seems to have been their plan for quite some time.” In subsequent posts and statements, Trump also called China’s actions a rather sinister and hostile move and said they were becoming very hostile, stating that this would clog global markets, causing difficulties for all countries, including China.
Honestly, I have never seen a more shameless person than him, because it is the US that arbitrarily interferes in markets through administrative means and undermines free trade. The one who started the global trade war and tariff war, causing tremendous damage to global trade, is none other than Trump. The US began imposing technological blockades on China through the Wassenaar Arrangement long ago, and since 2018, it has launched a series of trade and technology wars against China. After returning to the White House, Trump has initiated tariff wars against all countries globally, demanding that other nations’ leaders line up to kiss his ass.
The reason China imposed export controls on rare earths is mainly because the US and its Western allies use China’s rare earths to produce chips but prohibit selling those chips to China. No technology industry in the US or Western countries can survive independently without China’s supply chain, yet they insist on ganging up to suppress China. China is like a gentle sheep, but when facing a hungry wolf trying to devour it, it must fight back with its horns, right? Not to mention that China is a true tiger.
A tiger may nap, but you should not treat China like a sick cat to be bullied at will. Now the Chinese are awake, and when dealing with the US and its rogue partners, reasoning is completely useless. The only correct approach is to hit them hard, as the only logic they understand is tit for tat.
Just as I advised Modi to swallow his pride after Trump bullied him and India, I urge Trump to face reality: he has no cards left to play. He does not need to kiss Xi Jinping’s ass, but he absolutely should not expect China to yield to his bluster. Besides rare earths, China holds other trump cards, such as US Treasury bonds. If Trump wants to experience a simultaneous collapse of the stock market, bond market, and foreign exchange market, he can keep provoking China. I predict he will taste the consequences before the year ends.
I hope this is just Trump’s emotional venting before compromising with China. Once he calms down, he can face reality and coexist peacefully with China. I remember that clown Lutnick proudly claimed that the AI chips the US sells to China are not the best, nor the second or third best, but the fourth best. I even made a video mocking him to remember his words. In the future, the rare earths and other products China sells to you will not be the best, nor the second or third best, and you may not even be able to buy them with money. The Chinese will sell you products of pet food standards for American use.
What I particularly appreciate about the Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s rare earth control regulations is that not only do rare earths produced in China fall under Chinese control, but products using Chinese technology must also comply, or face sanctions. This is exactly the long-arm jurisdiction the US often uses, letting the US taste its own medicine.
Finally, I want to say to Trump: The prerequisite for a showdown with China is having enough cards in your hand. The question is, do you have them?
