Huawei releases foldable PC with HarmonyOS, self-developed X90 chip, fully domestic |MateBook Fold

This is a product launch for the Huawei MateBook F, the “Master” version, which is introduced as the world’s first foldable PC running the HarmonyOS (Hongmeng) operating system.

The video highlights the following key features of the new device:

  • Design and Portability: The laptop is a foldable PC with an 18-inch screen when fully unfolded. When folded, it is smaller than a MacBook Air and is very thin, with the thinnest part being only 7.3mm. It weighs only 1.16 kilograms, which is lighter than a MacBook Air.

  • Operating System: It runs on the new HarmonyOS 5, which has been re-engineered from the kernel up to create a unified ecosystem and a fully autonomous and controllable system. The system is optimized for PC use, providing a smooth and fast user experience.

  • Display Technology: The device features an 18-inch display that utilizes the industry’s first dual-layer flexible OLED screen, which provides a peak brightness of 1600 nits and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. The display also incorporates LTPO technology, which helps reduce power consumption.

  • Innovative Features: The device’s design includes a “Mystic Dragon” hinge that allows for a seamless flat display when unfolded. The hinge is designed for smooth, effortless opening and also provides stable support for hands-free use. It also features a virtual keyboard with vibration feedback and supports various gesture controls for a unique interactive experience.
